Hello! My name is Jeanette and as your birth keeper and doula, I am here to support you during pregnancy, birth and the first few weeks following your baby's arrival. A birth keeper centres you and your baby together regarding you as one. My role is to support you in any choices about your maternity care you may make and be there for you when you need that continuity of care that is often missing from the overstretched NHS. This means I will be available for you to call upon any time day or night from 10 days before your due date until baby's, or babies', arrival. This doesn't mean I can't be there for you if baby comes before time, though! I can be there as an advocate for you when you need, and give practical and emotional support not just to you, but your partner and other family members.
Following birth, I will make sure you are settled before leaving and return for a further two visits. These are negotiated with you dependent upon your need. This may be for help with breastfeeding or purely allowing you some time to bathe and sleep for a few hours whilst I peel some veg ready for your evening meal. From your first booking with me I am available for you to contact whenever you need.
I have a wealth of experience behind me, having qualified as both a Midwife and Registered Nurse. Homebirths are a true love of mine and I have attended twin and breech births. I am a proud member of the Association of Radical Midwives and AIMS. I am a birth keeper with When Push Comes to Shove and registered with Doula UK.
I am based in Gosport so my area covers mainly south-east Hampshire and south-west West Sussex - Southampton, Eastleigh, Winchester, Petersfield, Midhurst, Chichester, Havant, Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport.
I look forward to meeting you!

There will always be an initial meeting of 30-60 minutes, for which there is no charge. This can either take place in your home or over a video call. Please do not be put off if you think you cannot afford this service. There may be help available to you dependent upon your situation, and payments can also be made in instalments. Prices for bookings made from 1st July 2022.

For some women, there is only a need for antenatal and birth care as you may have very good post natal support in place.
The package includes:
I am a certified hypnotic birth practitioner (CHBP) and registered with the NCHP. For first time parents, or those that have had a few years gap since last giving birth. Five sessions comprising 1-2-1 hypnobirthing using the renowned easibirthingTM method, along with antenatal preparation including preparing your birth plan.
For those who have used hypnobirthing previously, a refresher to help prepare you for your next birth.
Two sessions which include antenatal support, any debrief discussion from previous birth and birth plan preparation.
For elective caesarian preparation, single session combined with help for lactation or suppression, dependent on requirement.
Single session hypnotherapy to help baby gain a cephalic or head down presentation.
The birth package will still include the initial 30-60 minute meeting and two antenatal visits as it is important that we both have a good understanding about working together.
Occasionally, there will be a last-minute decision to employ a doula. I will always do my utmost to accommodate you if this happens, but a pre-birth meet up is still recommended to ensure expectations are discussed.
Are you looking for an English-speaking doula and you are living abroad? Birth support through video call is also now possible, so if you are not in my area, I can still help you during this time.
If your requirement is for post natal support, I offer an hourly rate with a minimum of a two-hour block booked.
Needs are usually discussed with you prior to giving birth. It may range from coming to the hospital, meeting you at home from hospital to help you settle, preparing food for your meal, basic housework, preparing baby's feeds, etc. Sometimes it's just looking out for baby so you can get some well-needed sleep or spend some time with your other children.
However, you may have already given birth but have just decided that you need more help than you realised. I will always do my best to accommodate you, or can recommend another post natal specialist doula if I am not available.
£25 hourly rate during the hours of 0800-2000.
Single session using the easibirthingTM method to help treat your pregnancy sickness problems.
All packages can be tailored to requirements and your choice of birthing is exactly that, your choice.
